Harry Potter Re-Read!

As I began my new adventure into blogging, a friend recommended Book Journey to me as one that I should follow. As it turns out, I had very lucky timing, since Book Journey was just about to start the massive task of re-reading the entire Harry Potter series. I am a self-proclaimed Potter Head, and I have been since I started reading the books in 6th grade (at that point, only two of them were available in the U.S.).

Now many years later, I am still a huge fan of all things Harry Potter, but I do have a love-hate relationship with the movies. They’re not my favorite representations of the book, but they’re still Harry Potter, so I feel like I have to love them.

Fun fact about me: My friends and I co-founded a Harry Potter club in college, during which we met and discussed the books, watched the movies, and ate yummy goodies like Butterbeer and pumpkin cookies.

I joined J.K. Rowling’s website Pottermore a couple of years ago, but online gaming isn’t really my thing. However, I did stay on long enough to get sorted into my House. I had always thought myself to be a Ravenclaw – or at least I wanted to be a Ravenclaw – until I was sorted into Hufflepuff.

At first, I was disappointed. Then I began to read the traits of a typical Hufflepuff:

Being a Hufflepuff actually suits me perfectly. I am excited to get started on this Harry Potter re-read!

Let the reading begin!

Welcome!

Hi. Howya doin?

As my first post, I should introduce myself. I am a middle school Language Arts teacher from Dublin, OH, and my goal with this blog is to get myself writing. I’ve tried and failed in the past – I can just never seem to keep up the consistency. I am hoping that blogs like Slice of Life will help me to stay motivated to write, and I also want to use this space to reflect and discuss the current practices in my classroom.

As a second year teacher, I am definitely still learning the ropes. This whole career is a lifelong journey, and hopefully writing about it will help me to make sense of the craziness that sometimes comes with teaching.

Follow along with me as I make my way through this adventure!
