Harry Potter Re-Read!

on November 3, 2014

As I began my new adventure into blogging, a friend recommended Book Journey to me as one that I should follow. As it turns out, I had very lucky timing, since Book Journey was just about to start the massive task of re-reading the entire Harry Potter series. I am a self-proclaimed Potter Head, and I have been since I started reading the books in 6th grade (at that point, only two of them were available in the U.S.).

Now many years later, I am still a huge fan of all things Harry Potter, but I do have a love-hate relationship with the movies. They’re not my favorite representations of the book, but they’re still Harry Potter, so I feel like I have to love them.

Fun fact about me: My friends and I co-founded a Harry Potter club in college, during which we met and discussed the books, watched the movies, and ate yummy goodies like Butterbeer and pumpkin cookies.

I joined J.K. Rowling’s website Pottermore a couple of years ago, but online gaming isn’t really my thing. However, I did stay on long enough to get sorted into my House. I had always thought myself to be a Ravenclaw – or at least I wanted to be a Ravenclaw – until I was sorted into Hufflepuff.

At first, I was disappointed. Then I began to read the traits of a typical Hufflepuff:

Being a Hufflepuff actually suits me perfectly. I am excited to get started on this Harry Potter re-read!

Let the reading begin!

Check out Book Journey’s instructions for following along with the Re-Read here!

Welcome to the reread! I have a great butterbeer recipe that is basically spiced vanilla ice cream floating in warm apple cider. I’ll have to make some during this reread.

Here we are, we Hufflepuffs! We need to show ’em what we’re made of! 😀

  3. I’m glad you’re happy with your house! I love the idea of Ravenclaw but it’s definitely not where I belong long term.

I never wanted to be anything but in the same house as Harry, Ron and Hermione. Now, I have a better appreciation for Ravenclaw since learning about Rowena Ravenclaw’s diadem in the Deathly Hallows. But really I never payed any attention to the other houses until I read the books.

I’m glad that your initial disappointment in your house has morphed into the pride it should be! All houses are great! Hope you enjoy the rereadathon!

I would love to get your butterbeer recipe! While the movies just aren’t near as good as the books, I do enjoy watching them whenever they come on TV. I have a friend who has a great rule for her young son…he can’t watch the movies until he reads the corresponding book! How awesome is that?!
